This Christian romance presents a lot of real-world drama for readers to get their teeth into, but it’s also a powerfully emotional story about human nature and how we use our faith, and one another, to help us endure times of extreme hardship. The character development that the author provides is second to none. I felt like I was reading about real people and their struggles throughout the tale. Cries of Mercy is a deeply personal and spiritual drama which is devoted to God and the power of love amid intense hardship.

One thing I wasn’t expecting when I started reading was the amount of tension that weaves throughout each page and scene. Silverthorne is masterful in turning a love story into a suspenseful tale. I also found the characters to be authentic; “real” people with real problems. Heartache and pain, that many readers will be able to identify with, are balanced with just enough action to keep us entertained . . . and of course, to give us the hope of God’s mercy of which we often need reminding.

Angela Beach Silverthorne breaks our hearts in Cries of Mercy, while simultaneously evoking an unquenchable spirit to fight the good fight of faith. The inclusion of scripture, Spirit-led prayers, and Silverthorne’s powerful words portray the heart and soul of an enlightened life. . . All the characters are relatable, real and raw with emotion; the reader feels their grit, fear, and pain. Cries of Mercy does not water down spiritual warfare; the conflict, the battle between good and evil is as intense as it is insightful. Angela Beach Silverthorne is a masterful storyteller. Her story has caverns of depths, layer upon layer; it reveals hope and perseverance through grief and loss, the vitality of love and the importance of unity. The narrative had highs and lows, twists, shock, and awe. Cries of Mercy reveals the fragility of life, yet in equal measure portrays a life that in the hands of God is a life well-lived.

Cries of Grace by Angela Beach Silverthorne is a contemporary romance fiction with a powerful inspirational message, a story of faith, hope and love, but a story that equally explores the depths of human weakness, deceit, and corruption. After five years, Bren is returning home with a Master's Degree in nursing, with hopes of being together with the man she'd learned to love while away. Can Joseph return her love in the same measure? What awaits her may be far worse than she could have imagined: her grandma, who's always advised her to be compassionate and to keep her heart pure, is dead and her father is involved in satanic practices. Can she find a place in her heart to forgive?
Angela Beach Silverthorne has created a wonderful romance and inspirational story in Cries of Grace and readers will be able to feel the joys and heartbreaks of the characters because of the strength of the writing and the author's unique gift for entertainment. I fell in love with Bren from the very first pages, and her spiritual journey has been very realistic, a journey that takes place every day in some corner of the world. I also enjoyed that the theme of faith comes across neatly in the story without the author coming across as preachy. The story is well-paced, and it has its surprising turns. Angela Beach Silverthorne's writing flows gracefully; it is crisp, and wonderfully punctuated with vivid descriptions. This is a story that offers a lot of entertainment and many lessons for readers. One of those books you read, and read again.

Cries of Grace by Angela Beach Silverthorne is a love story set in the midst of spiritual growth and discernment. As a sequel to Cries of Innocence, the story of Brenda Sue Parrot, Bren, continues. Returning home after five years of schooling to become a nurse, Bren return to her family home, The Haven. She is reunited with her mother and ten-year-old twin sisters and other family members. She is excited but apprehensive about seeing Joseph, the man she has loved in silence. to her astonishment and delight, Joseph has felt the same and has waited patiently for her to return. Joseph has not only waited, he has made plans for their future if she could only feel the same way about him. While the two establish their relationship, concerns about the security and safety of those living at The Haven arise. Plans are made to increase security as well as expand its function. Evil is always lurking nearby and every means is taken to protect and defend against any intruders. Everyone here knows what evil looks like and, after engaging in spiritual warfare in the previous book (Cries of Innocence), Cries of Grace allows a time of healing, peace, love and growth while always remaining watchful and aware.
Angela Beach Silverthorne provides a well-written story of Bren and Joseph's love and commitment to each other and to God. It also allows a look into the lives of the family members at The Haven as well as friends nearby. To fully enjoy the impact of Cries of Grace, I recommend reading Cries of Innocence first. Not having read the first book, I was unaware of all the back story of the characters and had to rely on reminiscences and reflections to piece it together. That said, Cries of Grace certainly holds its own as a single book. Angela Beach Silverthorne's characters are vivid and realistic, their emotions are sometimes raw and always recognizable. There are some powerful moments of spiritual wisdom and insight, moments of tenderness and hope, all mixed in with the day to day lives of these characters. Tearing up is possible, no probable at various times. Angela Beach Silverthorne delivers a spiritually charged and full of hope love story. She demonstrates how faith, trust, and perseverance can usher you out of the dark places and into a life full of light and love and hope.

Cries of Innocence is a Christian fiction novel by
Angela Beach Silverthorne. Its central character is Bren, a seventeen-year-old
whose life is far from ideal. Her father is the infamous town drunk, and as a
result Bren is persecuted by bullies, facing misery and discrimination every
day. Her rebellious spirit pushes her to fight against the hardships of her
life, but when she tries to make a break for it, disaster strikes. From that
point on, Bren enters The Haven where her grandmother GG resides, and her
perspective on life begins to shift away from her hometown’s darkness. If she
really wants to grow up and succeed, however, Bren may need to turn and face
that darkness with new found bravery.
Mixing paranormal and spiritual elements with
Christian fiction is an interesting choice, and one that author Angela Beach
Silverthorne pulls off with effortless style. Bren’s story is peppered with
realistic characters, delightful dialogue and bittersweet samples of family
life, which really ground the story in reality to make elements such as visions
seem authentic and credible. I also enjoyed the varied ethnic mix of characters
and the way that each one had their own story to tell amid the narrative of
Bren’s journey of discovery. I think the messages of sustainability in
The Haven, love, loss, and destiny within Cries of
Innocence are important ones, which the author weaves into a dramatic and
intriguing plot. Bren’s journey to faith will be an inspiring one for fans of
Christian fiction everywhere.

Angela Beach Silverthorne writes an exceptional
Christian novel in Cries of Innocence. Bren is seventeen, a senior in high
school, and she just made cheerleader! Life should be good. However, Bren faces
tremendous life challenges. Her father is abusive and the town drunk. Most
believe that her grandmother, GG, is stranger than strange – possibly a witch.
To top it off, her boyfriend is a jerk! She can’t wait to escape her life,
small town, reputation, and go away to college. In an instant, everything goes
crazy. Bren finds herself running for her life, into a life she never knew
existed. Hiding out at “The Haven,” she is exposed to the Truth. “The whole
idea of God is a fantasy,” right? Bren has a lot to learn. Before she can stop and
even ponder it all, Bren gets a crash course in her family’s mysterious
history. All that she thought she knew soon proves to be wrong. Evil has raised
its ugly head. The battle rages. Hearing the cries of the innocent, Bren
discovers she is a part of something much bigger than herself. She must become
a beacon of light in a very dark world.
Cries of Innocence takes you on a mysterious journey
into the world of the warring believer. Angela Beach Silverthorne pens a story
that reveals the power of prayer against the despotism of evil. Her writing
style is profound, the word usage is rich and meaningful. At times, the imagery
is deeply poetic. The characters are not self-righteous, flowery or pious. They
are depicted as real people, trying to live and understand their Godgiven
gifts. Likewise, the villainous characters are legitimately diabolical. With
patience and intrigue, Silverthorne nudges the reader, enticing you into the
plot. As the plot’s action ascends to its climax, the pace increases. Then at
the precise pivotal point, Silverthorne plunges the reader into an adrenaline
surging battle and slaps you in the face with a few shocking surprises. Cries
of Innocence undeniably reveals the realities of spiritual warfare. However, it
leaves the reader feeling victorious, knowing the truth - light always dispels
darkness.

Bren has wanted to be a cheerleader her senior year
in high school for so long; she has worked hard, practicing on her own, asking
friends for help, and finally her dreams are about to come true - she has made
the cheer squad. There is just one catch, the cheer coach wants her to decline
the position ... what? Did she just hear what was said correctly? But of
course, she did, once again her life is being defined not by something she did,
but by something she has no control over, her father. He is the town drunk, and
abusive. Cries of Innocence is the story of Bren and her mother, when Bren
finally has enough of this town and her father. It follows what happens when
Bren finally trusts someone enough with the truth, and everything changes.
Angela Beach Silverthorne tells a captivating story of a daughter and a mother,
each surviving in their own ways, but neither really living or understanding
until now.
Cries of
Innocence is more than your typical abusive, drunken father story. Larry Parrot
is downright evil in many ways, and he can be hard to read at times. I have
read a great many books and usually have no problems, but there was something
about the way that author Angela Beach Silverthorne wrote him that just made
him real and scary. I found myself scared and troubled, frightened for the
family and hopeful; yet at the same time feeling the same despair that Bren
must have felt at times. This is an emotionally charged, but amazingly
wonderful book. I definitely recommend it, but advise more mature readers. I am
sure older teens would be fine with it, but I think parents should read it and
decide for themselves before allowing their teens to read the book. It does
have some good messages along with the frightening events that occur.
